File - Backup and Restore (Records Only)
The Backup and Restore feature allows you to back up the records only
for use in a transfer, typically to a newer version of the program (without records).
It is a good policy to make a Program - Backup Copy of the program and its data
before using the File Backup and Restore feature.

What Not To Do
Do not restore to a program with existing records or you will create duplicate records.

Important Information
A new version does not automatically import your old records.
You may keep the older version for access to the older records.
The two different versions will not conflict with each other.
The File - Backup & Restore feature does not back up the entire program package.
To create an full Backup Copy of the program, see Program - Backup Copy.
This feature is not included in some early versions of our program. Also, because of the variances in program development over time, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to restore your records from an older version of the program to a newer one.
We advise against using the Restore feature except when instructed to by our technicians.
Using the Restore feature may result in duplicate data and other data anomalies.
When you need to restore the records to the program with a different serial number,
you will need to buy a new unlock code before you can transfer your records.
Again, we recommend regular backups of your records and program
to preserve your records and avoid having to purchase a new unlock code.
For details on this procedure see Program - Backup Copy.

In the Existing Program:

(Version 7.3 or later) . . . . Go to: My Computer (or Computer) > Local Disk (C:) > Torgo, Inc.

- Open the folder for the program you are currently backing up.
- In this folder, there should be one to six files whose filenames end in "data.FP5".
If you can not find the "data.FP5" files,
the easiest way to locate the data files is to
select the View or Views menu and choose "Details".
In the "Type" column, the data files will be listed as "FP5 File".
- Move (drag and drop or copy and paste) all these data files to your backup location, such as a new folder on your desktop, so that they can be moved to the new program.
To Restore your records to the New Program:
- Install the new version of the program and purchase an unlock code for the new program.
- Enter the unlock code for the new program.
- Exit out of the program.
- Find and open the "Torgo, Inc." folder.

- Locate and click the Restore button.
- Return to the form and verify that your records have been restored.
